WHAT IF THE GRANFONDO IS NOT ENOUGH?

During this 29th edition of the 3 Ballons Chef de File there is a new challenge on offer for those who are never fully satisfied with normal distances and for those who need more ‘Ballons’ in the legs: the Ultra 4 Ballons.

You’ll ride the magnificent Granfondo route. But after the Markstein, you’ll tackle the last remaining Ballon: the Petit Ballon. You’ll ride in the wake of the greatest cyclists and pass through the famous Virage Pinot. Next comes the traditional sequence of climbs: the Platzerwasel, Grand Ballon, Hundsruck, and Ballon d’Alsace. The highlight of the event remains La Planche des Belles Filles, the perfect finishing touch to this legendary route. Once you reach the summit, it will be time to say: “We’ve come full circle.”

Ballon de Servance, Petit Ballon and Grand Ballon, Ballon d’Alsace, La Planche des Belles Filles—we’ve certainly seen hills with smoother gradients and flatter terrain. So we’ll have to switch between playing defensively and offensively. It will be essential to arm ourselves with patience and courage to succeed in this very demanding challenge. This challenge is, however, open to all brave men and women who want to push themselves to the limit. It will take the form of a non-competitive hike, as the main goal will be simply to finish. At the finish line you’ll be able to say: I did it
, and you’ll be among the few to have accomplished the feat of connecting all the Ballons by bike in a single day.
